The Town of Campbellton’s Councilman Danny Taylor was recently recognized by the Florida League for 40 years of elected municipal service. Mr. Taylor was presented with the John Land Years of Service award during the September Council meeting. Something he noted that is only given out every ten years, and he “now has four on his wall,” he said with much deserved pride. In an interview with The Graceville News, it is clear Danny Taylor is passionate about the community he grew up in, for he also serves the community through the Campbellton Volunteer Fire Department as well.
“Born and raised here,” Danny Taylor joined the Navy as a young man. Upon his return home, he ran for an elected seat, “and has held one ever since,” explained Mr. Taylor. Still passionately committed, Mr. Taylor spoke of the many grants Campbellton is pursuing for street paving and storm water treatment today. When asked what kept him so committed to serving his community, Mr. Taylor said he wanted to help bring about change, something that “comes slow in a small town.” Upon reflecting what this role of service has taught him, Danny Taylor said “patience,” also noting diligence as being a factor is “trying to do the best [he] can” with what he has had to work with over the years, which I speculate makes him rather resourceful as well.
Danny Taylor has remained a reliable elected official committed to the Campbellton community for longer than most people have remained loyal to anything in their entire life. This is a rare trait in this modern world that seems to speed up by the second with an instantly gratifying demeanor. He has seen many changes over the years and continues pushing for more to come. He showed gratitude for the opportunity to achieve such an accomplishment in elected municipal service through the Town of Campbellton Council.
