Graceville School is starting the new year with lots of activities and upcoming events. The Graceville News sat down for a quick interview with Assistant Principal Kayla Wilson to get information on all the different and new changes this school year.

Wilson commented the administration’s goal this year is to focus on the whole child not just the academics. She further explained, “We’re going to take a look at respect, compassion, and generosity. Those different traits that we want to really push for our kids because we know we are getting them ready for everything else. We’re not just getting them ready for the next grade but for what comes after school and those things they need to carry on through life.

Moving on to new pro- grams offered at Graceville School, Wilson stated that the Tigers will have the opportunity to participate in Eurhythmics, “It’s like dance, it’s going to be a show choir-type thing”. She also noted that the school is wanting to incorporate culi- nary but does not currently have a teacher for the sub- ject adding “if anybody wants to teach culinary” to give her a call at the school.

She then mentioned that the school will be hosting at least four parent engagement meetings adding they’d love for everybody to show up. She went on to state that a new Florida law has stated that cell phones cannot be used on campus and must be put away. She also noted that the school would be cracking down on tardies so for families to please speak to their students about get- ting to class on time. Lastly, she mentioned that the school hours have changed slightly with a 15-minute shift. School will start at 8:00 AM and school be ending at 3:00 PM.
