Graceville School recognizes employees with annual awards

Graceville School recently honored its employees for their hard work and dedication to the students and schools. The Jackson County Schools chose their picks for the school’s teacher of the year, non-instructional employee of the year, and rookie of the year at the end of last year and are excited to celebrate these great employees.

Being selected as Graceville School’s Elementary Teacher of the Year is Shonyae Clark. Clark graduated from Graceville School and went on to earn her degree from Chipola College. She has been involved with education for 6 years and currently teaches Kindergarten at Graceville School. She commented on receiving the award stating, “It is an honor and I was surprised my colleagues voted for me to receive this award.” She is a member of True Church of God Five Fold Ministries and finished commenting on her love for her students stating, “My students are my babies.”

Being selected as the Graceville School (High/Middle) Teacher of the Year is Allen McWaters. McWaters is a graduate of Bethlehem High School and earned his degree at Chipola College. He has been in the education sector for 12 years teaching ESE in grades 3 – 12 as well as 6 through 9th grade math and held the position as a PE teacher. He commented that he was “honored” and “surprised” to receive this award. His achievements include being a High Impact Teacher for 4 years and just recently finished building a house. He is a member of Life Out Loud Church and has two children Allyssah who is nine and is excellent at gymnastics as well as Wayne who is seven and is excellent at basketball. In his free time, Mr. McWaters enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, swimming, building things, and being outdoors.

Graceville School’s School-Related Employee of the Year is Ms. Joy Fountain. A graduate of Graceville High School, Ms. Fountain would go on to earn degrees and have a career as a Correctional Officer and in Office Systems Technology before moving into her current position as a Paraprofessional at Graceville School. She has been in the education sector for two years and commented that she felt “very humbled” to receive this award. She hopes to “continue to give back to my community” as time continues with her love for Graceville evident in her dedication to the school and its sports teams. She has three children, Anthony, Julian, and Charity and attends Canaan Land Missionary Baptist Church. She finished, “I thank God for allowing me this opportunity to help mold and love on our young people in this community.”
