Graceville School recently honored its employees for their hard work and dedication to the students and schools. The Jackson County Schools chose their picks for the school’s teacher of the year (elementary and middle/high) as well as non-instructional employee of the year. The school district also chose Graceville School Assistant Principal Kayla Wilson as the 2024-2025 District Assistant Principal of the Year.
Being selected as Graceville School’s Elementary Teacher of the Year is Donna Granberry. Granberry graduated from Houston County High School and went on to earn her degree from Troy University in Early Childhood Education and Library Media. She has been involved with education for 28 years and currently teaches First Grade at Graceville School. She commented on receiving the award stating, “There are so many deserving teachers at Graceville School that could hold this title. I am just their representative.” She and her husband David have three adult children who are all married - Ben and Molley Granberry, Davidson and Caroline Granberry, and Brady and Marilaine Herring; as well as two grandchildren – Addy and John Brackin. She finished commenting, “I enjoy making a difference in children’s lives. Equipping them for academic success is the greatest gift we can give.”
Being selected as the Graceville School (High/Middle) Teacher of the Year is Teresa McDaniel. McDaniel is a graduate of Graceville High School and continued her education at Chipola College before transferring to Troy University where she earned her degree in Computer Information Science and Mathematics. She has been in the education sector for 18 years and currently teaches Algebra I, Algebra II, Biology, Chemistry, and Digital Media/Multi-Media. She commented, “Receiving this award is deeply humbling and gratifying. It gives me joy to know that my efforts to inspire and educate are appreciated. I am honored to be a part of this wonderful group of people. I love my Tiger family and this school!” She continued, “My goal as a math teacher is to make Algebra enjoyable and meaningful, and to help my students reach their full potential.” She and her husband Bobby have three adult children – Taylor McDaniel, Madison and Danelli McDaniel, and Reese and Lee Keith; as well as three grandchildren – Mary, Lyah, and Liam.
Graceville School’s School-Related Employee of the Year is Mrs. Lucinda (Lucy) Polston. A graduate of Graceville High School, Mrs. Polston has been in the education sector for 31 years and is currently Graceville School Secretary. She commented on how she felt about receiving the award stating, “Honored, of course. WE have an awesome team, and many people deserve to be recognized. I just try to do my best for people each day and treat them with kindness; how I want to be treated.” Her and her husband Max have two children – Curtis and Christina as well as six grandchildren. Mrs. Polston is a member of Cottondale First Assembly of God and finished, “I love my school babies! Many of their parents were former school babies of mine. I just want to be a positive light in their little lives. So many children just need a smile or an encouraging words. I just want them to know they are loved.”
Earning the Jackson County School District Assistant Principal of the Year Award is Graceville School’s Kayla Wilson. Ms. Wilson is a graduate of Graceville High School and continued her education at Chipola College as well as the University of West Florida. She has earned several degrees included her Bachelor of Science in English Education and Master of Education in Educational Leadership. She has been in the education sector for nine years which includes teaching at Marianna Middle School and Malone School; as well as being the Assistant Principal at Graceville School for three years. She commented on receiving the award, “It felt incredible and feels me with a sense of pride and validation for my hard work and dedication to my students and staff.” Wilson is no stranger to awards she was previously a Rookie Teacher of the Year and Teacher of the Year twice. Now with AP of the Year on her wall, her next goal in the future to earn the award of Principal of the Year for Jackson County School District.
